I am a transplanted English Rose having moved to North Carolina from England in 1991.  The first thing my hungry eyes set on when I arrived at my new home was a sea of lawn, vast wastelands of it, and I set about systematically tearing it up and replacing it with flowers and trees.  My intent (and it still is 20 years later) to create an environment where wildlife could thrive, an oasis of calm and serenity among a street of gardens that resembled the parking lot at any given Burger King.  My yard has been designated a National Wildlife Habitat and the next time the husband is away for a couple of days I shall be stealing more of his ever shrinking lawn to create more habitat.   “And the Green Man moved a quiet shoulder, and turned his face to smile.”

  1. So sorry to learn about Cueball. I love the picture of Judy and Cueball and know that they’re playing in Heaven. Heaven is smiling down at you with all the good and nurturing and reaching out you do. My girlfriend and I were having a bad day, so I came here to see some beauty and kindness and that is what we found. Thanks. Peace be with you.

  2. Thanks for helping me identify those cute little pink flowers…Pink Oxalis…they have been on several properties we’ve owned, but I never knew what they were…just that I liked them…now I know I can move them all over the place…goody!!
