A moment of caring

Yesterday afternoon I was out on the road running errands.  As I drove up a particularly busy road, bumper to bumper with traffic, I noticed the pick up truck in front of me suddenly pull off to the side of the road and put on his warning lights.  I looked ahead and saw a large snapping turtle attempting to cross the road.  What followed utterly amazed me.  I swerved to miss the turtle and then pulled my car over and got out.  Following behind me was a large dump truck which pulled up, put on its hazard lights and stopped the traffic behind it.  The car in the outside lane did the same, and stopped the traffic in his lane.  The driver of the pick up truck walked to the middle of the road and picked up the turtle.  The driver of the dump truck walked across the road and stopped the traffic going in the opposite direction so that the driver of the pick up truck could safely carry the turtle to the ditch on the other side of the road (where he was obviously trying to get to).   Everyone high fived each other and all got back into their vehicles and drove away.   I was just blown away by the amount of concern that all involved had for the turtle.  It made me smile.
